Bristow Couple Appear on Wheel of Fortune

Friends and neighbors will finally get to see Bristow residents Jill and Larry Blocker compete on long-running TV game show Wheel of Fortune Dec. 9. Over a month after their episode was taped, the couple's episode will air during the show's Disney Cruise Week. "We went to audition in D.C. 18 months ago; it was about a six-hour audition," Jill Blocker said. "We were called in the beginning of October and said we were chosen for couples week and had to be in California on Oct. 17." More than 10,000 people try out each year and the show's producers select fewer than 600 contestants to appear on the show. Jill describes the experience as an "absolute blast."
"We are thankful for wonderful friends that were willing to help out with our kiddos while we went away on such short notice."
.
The Blockers will host a viewing party in their neighborhood club house Monday night. The show airs on ABC 7 at 7 p.m. Dec. 9.

According to the show's website, Wheel of Fortune has awarded more than $200 million in cash and prizes to its contestants since its syndication debut in 1983.
