Broadway singing sensation Jeannette Bayardelle will perform at Manassas Assembly of God at 11500 New Life Way in Bristow during all of their weekend services April 27 and 28.

Bayardelle is known for her role as Dionne in the Broadway revival of “Hair,” and for originating the role of Celie in the first national tour of “The Color Purple.”

However, children may be more interested in her vocal work in Disney’s animated musicals, “Princess and The Frog” and “The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning.”

The ministry and staff at Manassas Assembly of God are excited to have such an accomplished singer perform before their congregation.

“She's in town for the opening of her musical, “SHIDA,” at the Hylton Center, which opens Mother's Day weekend,” said Manassas Assembly of God communications director Noreen Bryant.

While Bayardelle will be practicing for her May 11 and 12 performance of SHIDA at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, which she both wrote and stars in, she has agreed to also perform at Manassas Assembly of God and meet with the congregation.

“After she helps lead the congregation in worship, Senior Pastor Scott Leib will do a short interview with her. Afterwards, she'll have a CD table in our foyer and will be able to meet people,” Bryant said.

The vibrant church hopes the congregation finds Bayardelle’s story and her singing both uplifting and inspiring.

“She's got a great story and we're excited that she's set aside time to be with us,” said Bryant.

Service times are Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 9 and 10:45 a.m. Manassas Assembly of God invites all community members to attend the services.

Manassas Assembly of God has been serving the greater Manassas community since 1936. This May, they will officially change their name to Chapel Springs Church. The name comes from the natural springs which run through their property, and from the historical "White Chapel" located near there in the 1800s.

Says Senior Pastor Scott Leib, “Throughout the Bible, springs are a powerful spiritual metaphor for new life. What a perfect name for our church!”
