Historic Manassas to Throw Largest Fireworks Display in Nova

If Bristow residents are looking for a place to watch their fireworks, they do not need to travel all the way to D.C. The City of Manassas will have its famed firework show again this year on July 4 in Old Town Manassas.

The folks at Historic Manassas expect its firework show to be the best yet, as well as the largest in Northern Virginia. That is because they hired Zambelli Fireworks, known for displaying some of the best firework shows in the country.

According to Zambelli Fireworks, Inc. website, "These displays include a variety of shells and high-intensity multi-shot devices that awe and inspire."

Zambellie has choreographed some of the  largest displays in the United States, such as Thunder Over Louisville and the Target Fireworks in New York Harbor as part of the New York Children's Day Festival.

The fireworks start at 9 p.m. will last for 20 minutes. The show will be synched with patriotic music, which spectators should be able to hear from the lawn outside the Manassas Museum.

However the fireworks are just the finale to Old Town Manassas’ Celebrate America event that begins at 4 p.m.

It is a fun filled event for people of all ages, including water balloon wars, hayrides and an apple pie baking contest. There will be plenty of food and entertainment too, including the band “Shake it Up” playing Motown, oldies and classic rock from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.

For safety reasons the Manassas Old Town Parking Garage will not be available.

WEATHER UPDATE!  Weather is calling for 30% chance of isolated thunder storms for July 4th.  As of now, fireworks, rides, and other activities will go on as planned.  If the fireworks are canceled, updates will be sent out via the Historic Manassas, Inc. website (www.visitmanassas.org) and our Facebook page.  Updates for rescheduling will also be posted on these sites as soon as they become available.
