In a press conference held on Mar. 15, Executive Director of the Hylton Performing Arts Center Rick Davis announced the center's 2012-2013 season of performances, partnerships and events.

The season will feature 22 performances by world class artists and ensembles, including the Capitol Steps, Royal Drummers and Dancers of Burundi, Shaolin Warriors, Dailey & Vincent, Chucho Valdés, “Live at Birdland,” Arlo Guthrie, Danú, Lila Downs and more.

After a successful inaugural year, the Hylton Family Series will also be returning with dynamic, yet reasonably priced family friendly performances for all ages.

And while the Hylton Center welcomes performers from all over the world, it is also  helping to grow the performing art scene in its own backyard. On Wed., the Hylton Center announced its Resident Arts Partners for the new season. Local Performing art ensembles, which call the Hylton Art Center home, now include Manassas Symphony Orchestra, Manassas Ballet Theatre, Prince William Little Theatre, Manassas Chorale, Youth Orchestras of Prince William and Vpstart Crow Productions.

Finally Davis confirmed that the Hylton Center will once again partner with the Castleton Festival this summer to present two performances on June 28 and July 7. Both performances will feature world-renowned conductor and Castleton Festival founder, Lorin Maazel, conducting the Castleton Festival Orchestra.

Speaking at the event, Alan Merten, the president of George Mason University, praised the performing arts center.

“The creation of the Hylton Performing Arts Center has been one of our greatest accomplishments,” Merten said. “Our partnerships with Prince William County, the City of Manassas, the Commonwealth of Virginia and individuals and businesses in our region were crucial to helping us build this thriving, beautiful facility and in helping us continue to serve the surrounding community today and for years to come.”
