The Lasley Centre for the Performing Arts will perform the traditional Christmas ballet “The Nutcracker” Sunday Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. at Battlefield High School.

The premiere Warrenton dance studio located on Lineweaver Road just outside Gainesville is unique for employing experienced instructors who are also seasoned performers that specialize in their genre of dance, whether it be pointe, tap, jazz or another style. Executive Director Kalie Lasley believes the centre's high level of instruction makes a tremendous difference to the student who wishes to progress on to become a professional dancer.

The Lasley Centre is also known for its expansive, state-of-the-art, two-level dance studio.

For the Lasley Centre, the performance of “The Nutcracker” is quickly becoming a holiday event the community looks forward to each year. Last weekend, 1,000 people attended their two opening shows performed at Fauquier High School. They expect an equally large turnout this weekend for their Prince William performance and thus encourage attendees to buytickets in advance through Eventbrite.com.

Those who attended last year’s performance can expect this year’s show to be even better.

According to the Lasley Centre representative Joel Haspel, this year’s show includes many new set and custom pieces. Specifically, the show will feature handmade ball gowns, the sleigh used for Clara and the Nutcracker Prince and a large skirt enclosure for the character of Mother Ginger.

The cast is composed of students from Ballet I, Ballet II and Ballet III, which incorporates dancers ages five through adult. The show stars Lauren Bennett as Clara; Daniel Stolz as the Nutcracker Prince; Allan Rush as the Cavalier; Mackenzie Waters and Harmony Patton as the Sugar Plum Fairy; Autumn Beck as the Snow Queen; and Abigail Kane-Haspel as the Naughty Little Mouse.

Tickets are available at Lasley's Nutcracker page via Eventbrite.

The Lasley Centre is accepting new students on a rolling basis. Enrollment is available online at lasleycentre.com.

Since last year, the Lasley Centre has added additional sections and levels of pre-ballet, ballet and jazz, and since moving to its new studio, the school has more than tripled its enrollment.
