Local Businesses Collaborate to Organize First Night Bristow

Two local businesses are teaming up to organize what they hope to become an annual New Year’s Eve tradition: First Night Bristow.

Birstow Beat LLC and Sweet Creations Frozen Yogurt will be the primary sponsors of the event.

“We’re in the exploratory stages at this point,” Bristow Beat Publisher Jason Shaw said. “We’re asking for public input on what they would like to see the celebration become.”

The owners of the businesses felt that the area needed a way to celebrate News Year’s Eve since there are currently no First Night celebrations in Prince William County.

“Adding an opportunity for people of all ages to connect and enjoy local talent and special events during New Year's Eve is not only fun but draws the community together in a new experience,” Sweet Creations Partner/Owner Debbie Bankert said.

The organizers are entertaining a number of local venues in which to hold the event and hope to make an announcement soon.

Shaw and Bankert are reaching out to businesses throughout the area to support the celebration.

“We’re soliciting sponsorships and beginning to formulate a marketing strategy,” he said. “There are many financial and logistical hurdles, but if residents are enthusiastic, we’ll do our best to bring the party to them.”

They said they have no preconceived notions about what the event might ultimately become and are looking forward to hearing from the public.

“Whatever shape First Night Bristow takes, we’ll usher in the New Year with fireworks!” he said.

The organizers have set up a web page for individuals who want to participate, contribute resources or share ideas.
