Some Parrotheads didn't get to party at the June 20 Jimmy Buffett concert at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow. According to a group of concert goers, prior to Saturday's concert, they were informed by security staff outside of the venue that the concert was cancelled due to the impending storm and the potential for a tornado. However, according to the venue's management the show was never cancelled. "That was not the message that we relayed," Live Nation Director of Marketing Jeremiah Xenakis said. "I don't know where they got that." He explained that when they storm broke at 7:38 p.m. patrons were asked to seek shelter either in the pavilion or in their cars. Security personnel were never told to turn people away. "The safety of our guests is the number one priority," he said. Fans were permitted to return to the venue by 7:55 p.m. "Jimmy came out and performed 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' and the show began by 8:20 p.m.," he said. However, this group of fans insist that the only reason they did not stay for the concert was because of what they were told by security. "I had six tickets, which as you can imagine are very expensive, just flushed down the toilet," Susan Stacy of Montclair said. "I'm not sure how this got so botched but it definitely did and is very unfair to many people." A few fans were left soured by the experience. "After seeing the news reports about a tornado touching down in Bristow, it makes me question what meteorologist they use," Tara Oravec of Hancock, Md. said. "Although I didn't make it into the venue, I now also feel they did put lives in danger. As much as I love Jimmy Buffett it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth about him as well..It ll comes down to the Almighty dollar." Oravec said she requested a refund from Ticketmaster the next day; however, she was informed the venue management did not authorize refunds due to weather. "He said he would put in a request for a refund and that it would take 7-10 days and that someone would contact me by phone in a couple of days; so far no phone call," she said.

Xenakis confirmed the policy, but suggested that concerned ticket holders can contact the venue to discuss the incident.

"We have a process," he said. "We're very fair with customers."
