Second Annual Nokesville Christmas Parade Scheduled for Dec. 14

Posted

The Nokesville Business Association will hold its second annual Nokesville Christmas Parade Dec. 14, beginning at 4 p.m. on Fitzwater Drive in Nokesville. The parade will be accompanied by other Christmas and winter activities, including a tree-lighting ceremony, live nativity scene, hymns, carriage rides, holiday dinner and appearance by Santa Claus himself!

Last year’s parade was well received by the community. Children enjoyed seeing Santa and other colorful characters, while some adults got into the spirit themselves, attending as elves, Mrs. Claus or even Santa’s reindeer.

This year’s parade promises to be just as lively and will feature even more marching bands than the previous year as bands from Brentsville District High School, Patriot High School, Stonewall Jackson High School and the Marine Corps plan to march along the route.

Spectators can expect colorful holiday themed floats sponsored by local businesses, organizations, and Brentsville District community leaders that are sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face. Attendees can also expect plenty of dancers and cheerleaders, including those from Prince William Dance Academy.

Then, for the finale, children will get a chance to see Santa himself, riding on a Nokesville Fire Department fire engine.

The parade will follow along Fitzwater Drive, beginning at Nokesville Elementary School and ending at Nokes Street at the Nokesville Church of the Brethren. Parking is available in the field across from Nokesville Elementary School and in other locations around Fitzwater. However, the road will close at 3:45 p.m.

Immediately following the parade, attendees are invited to witness the Nokesville tree-lighting at Square Market on the corner of Fitzwater Drive and Nokesville Road. According to Williams, this is a Nokesville Business Association tradition that predates the parade.

Afterwards, all are invited to gather at Nokesville Church of the Brethren to witness a live nativity scene and Christmas hymns featuring parishioners. At 6 p.m., following the nativity, free horse drawn carriage rides will be offered to attendees on a first come, first serve basis.

But the party is just beginning! Parade attendees can enjoy a holiday dinner with their friends and neighbors at the Church of the Brethren for just $5 (children 6 and under eat free.) Santa will be there, spreading good cheer, and there will be plenty of food and treats to go around. Diners are also encouraged to give back to the community by bringing along canned goods to be donated to SERVE and BARN.

BristowBeat hopes to see you there!
