Spaghetti Dinner to Benefit Nokesville Christmas Parade to be held Saturday

Posted

Friends Uniting Nokesville (FUN), in cooperation with the Nokesville Business Association (NBA), will hold a benefit Spaghetti Dinner, Saturday, June 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Nokesville Fire Station at 12826 Marsteller Drive in Nokesville.

The proceeds from the Spaghetti Dinner will go towards funding the third annual Nokesville Christmas Parade planned for December.

“We are holding this fundraiser earlier than in previous times so that we can get an early start on funding, and while the Nokesville Fire Station is still available,” said NBA member Gail Williams, noting that the Spaghetti Dinner has grown “ever larger” every year it has been held.

The menu at the Spaghetti Dinner will include spaghetti with a choice of marinara or tomato sauce, meat sauce or Italian style red sauce with sausage. The meal also includes bread, salad, a drink and dessert.

Adult tickets are $10, Children’s tickets are $5 and children 4 years and under eat free.

The dinner will also include a silent auction and 50/50 drawing. Proceeds from this fundraiser will also go towards the Nokesville Christmas Parade and subsequent holiday events.

This year, families and individuals are invited to stop by and purchase a carry out dinner if they cannot stay to attend.

Tickets will be available at the door or in advance. To purchase tickets in advance, please contact NBA member Barbara Bowling at Nokesville Print and Copy (NPC) or stop by NPC at 1286 Fitzwater Drive during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bowling will also be accepting last minute items for donation from businesses and individuals. Gift certificates, dinner for two, baskets, toys and jewelry are some suggested items.

The Nokesville Christmas Parade is a community event that helps promote local businesses, non-profit organizations and churches in Nokesville and the surrounding area. In addition, it also features local schools, student groups, libraries, fire departments, police, elected officials, clubs and volunteer organizations, and private citizens riding their classic cars or tractors.

The parade is a family-friendly event that culminates with the appearance of Santa Claus. Along the way, other Christmas and holiday themed characters often make an appearance.

In past years, after the parade, other Christmas and holiday festivities have taken place in town such as a tree-lighting, live nativity scene, carolers, community dinner and holiday food drive at the Church of the Brethren, meeting with Santa Claus and horse and buggy carriage rides.

Businesses/organization that advertise on Bristow Beat and that donate to the Spaghetti Dinner via food, silent auction items or door prizes, will receive a shout out on Facebook & Twitter! Contact Stacy or Jason Shaw to make sure you get your shout out.
