Bach2Rock, the new music school at Bristow Commons, will celebrate its official grand opening with live demos and sample classes, Saturday, Feb. 6, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Bach2Rock’s initial grand opening had to be rescheduled. Now, after being open for almost five months, they are ready to showcase their school and classes to the community with confidence, said franchisee Sameer Patel.

Sample instrument lessons will be held every half hour.

Children’s class demos will include:

  • Rock n Roll from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (ages 6 months to 3-years)
  • Rock City from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (ages 3-5)

Bach2Rock also offers B2R Rock Band, Glee Club and recording studio classes for kids and teens.

One class that Patel would definitely recommend for children ages 5-7 is Kids n Keys. The group keyboard class introduces young students to playing keyboard, but also serves as an introduction to music theory. While some graduate from Kids n Keys to playing piano, others will pick up drums, guitar or violin, depending on the child’s interest.

“It’s a launch pad for any instrument, really,” Patel said.

And, while most people think of a music school as being a place where children take lessons, Patel explained that Bach2Rock is just as much for adults.

He has a few parents who, rather than just sitting in the waiting room, have opted to take their own music lessons concurrently with their children. These adults have picked up instruments they have always wanted to learn, such as drums and guitar.

Eventually he hopes to have adults forming their own neighborhood bands with help from Bach2Rock instructors.

Bach2Rock offers music classes for children, teens and adults in both individual and group sessions. The school offers classes for various stages a musician’s development. More experienced musicians can even form bands and learn to write, record and program music.

These rock band and group classes tend to be very popular with teenagers as it provides them the rock star experience, playing music they love while building a solid foundation by learning from experienced instructors.

The music school offers camps and party packages as well.

Saturday is an open house in which visitors are welcome. Those who would like more information can visit bristow.b2rmusic.com, call 703-373-7260 or email bristow@bach2rock.com . Bach2Rock Bristow is located at 9070 Devlin Road, Suite 100, in Bristow Commons.
