Beginning in June, Bach2Rock music school in Bristow will hold week-long music camps, in which campers can join bands, record music and perform like rock stars.

To encourage parents and children to get a feel for their programs, they are holding an open house, Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Back2Rock, Bristow. The school is located at 9070 Devlin Road, Suite 100, in the Bristow Commons Shopping Center.

Back2Rock believes students become more invested in music lessons when they don’t have to wait too long to play their favorite rock songs and perform in live in shows.

Although this is the Bristow Bach2Rock’s first summer session, Site Director Samir Moussa previously worked at the B2R’s summer camp in Bethesda, Maryland, where he witnessed campers progressing quickly.

“It’s a quick avenue to experience in all aspects of musicianship,” he said. “Quickly, you’ll be playing in a band.”

Moussa said it’s not an easy task to take a new musician to the point where they putting on a live concert, but it’s one they do all the time at Bach2Rock because the students really appreciate it.

He has witnessed his students progress tremendously in a week, gaining instrumental skills and confidence that comes from performing live. Campers are also introduced to various aspects of the music business.

“In a week, they are rock stars with the shirts, the CDs and the concerts, and we are going to be video-taping them as well,” Moussa said.

B2R musicians enjoy performing their favorite songs as Bach2Rock can access a 400 plus popular songs in its music library.

Although great for beginners, the camp is also appropriate for more advanced musicians who can benefit from mentorship and guidance from professional music teachers.

And, while the camps are organized in week-long sessions, many choose to reenroll for a second or third week over the summer, or go on to take individual or group lesson throughout the year.
