Bristow Biz: Nokesville Print & Copy Center Offers Quality, Personalized Service

Nokesville Print & Copy Center in Nokesville offers more than most printers. The local printing center offers black and white or color copies, books, handouts, banners, signs, business cards, letterheads, envelopes, announcements and logos, but also specializes in getting to know their clients.

Perhaps it is because Barbara Bowling, owner of Nokesville Print & Copy, set up shop in her hometown. Growing up in Nokesville, Bowling remembers riding her bicycle to the small grocery that is now her print shop.

“(People tell me) I’m so glad you’re here,” said Bowling. “It’s convenient to be two minutes up the road.”

But Bowling keeps her small town hospitality when working with all of her customers.

“Down home touch with a global reach,” Bowling explains is how others' describes her business.

“We have people from New York, New Jersey, Texas and Tennessee,” said Bowling, naming a few places her out of state clients call home. Bowling does not discriminate, because she believes whether a person works for a big or small company, everyone appreciate personalized service.

“We treat each customer as an individual. (With us) You’re not just a number,” said, Bowling, explaining her philosophy on customer service. “They can call, and they’re almost like friends. We don’t want to be, ‘Press one, if you know you’re party’s extension.’”

She believes this personalized service helps her stand above the competition in an age of faceless Internet business.

“(We have) Many repeat customers, customers who followed me from where I used to work, and wouldn’t go anywhere else,” Bowling said.

She further believes personalized service makes a world of difference in her industry. Nokesville Print & Copy treats each order individually as well, so that colors are just right. If Bowling feels her costumers would not be satisfied she reruns the order. It is not the kind of service print orders tend to get now a days, said Bowling, as digital printing services lump one order with the rest to save cost.

Nokesville Print & Copy also offers year of experience Bowling brings with her.

“I have been in printing since I was 16. It was just a job then, but it ended up being all I ever knew,” Bowling said.

Most of that time she worked for companies owned by others, but in 2006 Bowling realized knew enough and might as well go into business for herself. Naturally, she wanted to open her business right in her own neighborhood, and decisively named that business Nokesville Print & Copy.

“It never even crossed my mind any other thing,” Bowling said.

In 2007 she moved a few stores down Fitzwater Drive to her current location. There she relished having the flexibility to interact with local people and involve herself in community events, while retaining the flexibility to work with larger out of area companies.

She also likes that she is a one-stop shop from design to delivery. She jokes that she’s the O.B. Gyn. of printing, “because we go from conception to birth.”

However at Nokesville Print & Copy Center delivery is free with Western Prince William County/Manassas or to locations a few miles from Nokesville. Conception involves creating a design logo. It is a service not all copy centers offer.

Right now Bowling is hoping to grow her business as well as help out other local businesses. To that end she is an executive member of the Nokesville Business Association, a member the Prince William Chamber of Commerce and Bull Run Networking in Gainesville.
