The new Walgreens in Bristow will hold a grand opening celebration at 11 a.m. this Thursday. The pharmacy/convenience store on the corner of Linton Hall at 9051 Devlin Road has been open since early February 2012, but it did not have an opening celebration at that time.
This celebration will include a ribbon cutting by Wade Hugh, the director of development services for Prince William County, and Walgreens is encouraging community participation. As such they will offer door buster deals and family-friendly entertainment.
Entertainment includes a moon bounce for children and a raffle for adults. There will also be hot BBQ for customers. The day will also feature special sales, including $3 off purchases of $10 or more, and 4 x 6 digital photo prints for $0.15, as well as additional sales throughout the week.
Cathy Tarr, Walgreens’ community store leader, said Bristow was an obvious fit for the pharmaceutical and convenience chain, because it is a community-minded store.
“The people of Bristow need something new in the community,” said Tarr, who believes the store is ideally located for those living in and around the Linton Hall corridor. However, she also believes that neighbors will feel at home with the personalized service they will receive.
“When our pharmacists have patients, they really want to know who you are. They’ll talk to you about your medication,” Tarr said.
For those individuals who have yet to see the new Walgreens, Tarr believes they will be impressed with the design and layout, which she calls “absolutely beautiful.”
She also wants customers to know that Walgreens is a name they can trust. Although Walgreens is relatively new to this area, the company has a long history, dating back to 1901. Recently they have expanded into new markets, and are now a common sight in Northern Virginia.
Walgreens offers services not found at other pharmacies, such as actively involved sales people, who will advise customers on their cosmetic purchases.
