As businesses begin to open their doors at the Promenade at Virginia Gateway in Gainesville, the lifestyle center's developer continues to sign new tenants.

The Peterson Companies have added the South Florida-based IT’SUGAR to its site plan.

The target date for the opening of IT’SUGAR's 1800-square-foot store at the Promenade at Virginia Gateway is summer 2014, a representative for the company said.

IT’SUGAR positions itself  as a sweets shop specializing in candy from chocolates to lollipops to mints to gummy bears and candy-inspired fashion apparel, accessories and novelty gift items and an exclusive beauty collection that includes lotions, body mists, shower gels, nail polish scents and even "flirty, sugar fragrances."

"With over a thousand indulgent confections to choose from, IT’SUGAR is “the” place sugar hounds and sweet tooth junkies get their fix. It is the exclusive home to several of the world’s largest boxes of candy including The World’s Largest Box of Nerds, The World’s Largest SweeTarts Candy, and The World’s Largest Box of Pop Rocks," Marketing Manager Adrienne Sayward said. "Featuring an array of choices that will please just about anyone, IT’SUGAR offers candy from every category including chocolate, gummy, sour, old skool and more."

The chain, founded in 2006, has over 70 retail stores domestically and internationally with two locations in Washington D.C. and one at the National Harbor.
