Jacobs and Co. Real Estate, at 12841 Fitzwater Drive in Nokesville, along with Fairway Independent Mortgage, of Gainesville, will hold a BBQ event before and following the Nokesville Day Parade Saturday to promote their charitable partnership with Homes for Heroes

Homes for Heroes is an organization that gives back to local heroes, such as police, firefighters, EMTs, military veterans, teachers  and health care workers by providing them a discount when they are selling, buying or renting a home.

The company, which is affiliated with realtors, lenders and other realty related services, offers substantial discounts to heroes who serve their communities. The program was created after 9/11 as a small “Thank you” to the heroes who gave of their lives in that tragedy.

At the BBQ celebration, Jacobs and Co., in cooperation with Fairway Independent Mortgage, will offer food and entertainment, such as BBQ, a moon bounce and face painting for children.

Virginia Congressman Rob Wittman (R) of Virginia’s First Congressional District will make an appearance as a VIP and special guest speaker at the event following the parade.

Scott Jacobs of Jacobs and Co. Real Estate said that Whitman is planning on addressing the crowd and also talking one on one with his constituents. Jacobs believes it is a special honor to have Wittman here in Brentsville.

Jacobs will also be available to talk with residents about Home for Heroes, or his campaign for Brentsville District Supervisor. He is set to run as a primary candidate for the Republican ticket, should current Supervisor Wally Covington resign to accept a judgeship.

Jacobs said he decided to hold the event, because, “We want to build awareness for Homes for Heroes,” and because it is a way to give back to the community.

Dwight King and John Engel of Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp. will also be attending the event, explaining some of advantages of buying or selling a home through the Homes for Heroes program, which can save buyers up to $4,000 in savings, depending on the price of their home.

King said that many realtors do not advertise program since it requires they give up 25 of their gross commission, but Jacobs wants to make sure Prince William residents can take advantage of the discounts.

Jacobs and Co. office is located along the parade route, west of Nokesville Elementary School, which is where most of the Nokesville Day vendors, entertainment and food will be situated.

“All are encouraged to attend and are welcomed,” Jacobs said.
