Original Story:

Tired of the existing pizza choices in the area? Stay tuned, because MOD Pizza is coming to the Promenade at Virginia Gateway in Gainesville.

The Seattle-based fast-casual pizza chain, which has over 60 locations nationwide, will open their first Northern Virginia location in September.

The 2,500 square foot restaurant will serve their super-fast, hand-made pizza in a unique setting: one of the restaurant's walls will open like a garage door and convert to an outdoor dining experience.

"Our ovens are super hot! Our 800 degree ovens are gas fired and cook your pizza in less than 3 minutes," they said on their website. "Pizzas are made by hand and handled by artisan pizza bakers – no conveyor belts here!"

According to the company, customers will get to choose exactly what they want on their pizzas without an upcharge.

"We're excited to bring a new concept to the center and new synergy to the shops and restaurants," Peterson Companies spokesperson Joanna Caputi said.

Mod Pizza will be located across from Uncle Julio's Rio Grande, which is opening late August/early September.

The pizza chain was founded in 2008.
