No Progress in Construction of Victory Lakes Retail Center, Builder Seeks Partner

Citing competition from SR 234 Business and Braemar Village Plaza, Miller and Smith deem the construction of an 85,000 sq. ft. retail center at Victory Lakes opened-ended.

"We have no deals in place and have no formal schedule as retail is extremely saturated in the area," said Tom Hyde, a representative of Miller and Smith.

Residents report receiving a survey soliciting suggestions for potential businesses. While land was cleared for the project, located at Sudley Manor and Lake Baldwin Drive, no businesses have signed commitments to locate to the site.

The Mid-Atlantic home builder who continues to expand residential development in parts the Victory Lakes community acknowledges that it would rather remain within its core business and not expand into retail by itself.

"We are looking for a developer to partner with," Hyde  said.  "It's not our forté."

Smith and Miller have discussed the property with a few day care providers.

"We can deliver a pad for a day care center," he said.
