The Peterson Companies announced Tuesday that national retailer Stein Mart plans to open a new store at Virginia Gateway in Gainesville.
The 29,000 square foot store, which will locate in the former Linens 'n Things space facing Wellington Road, is expected to open in October 2014.
The Jacksonville-based retailer sells "a distinctive assortment of current-season, brand name fashion apparel for women and men, accessories, home décor, linens and shoes." They said they offer 60% off brand names such as Michael Kors, Anne Klein, Vince Camuto, Robert Graham, Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Reidel and Godiva.
“Stein Mart offers stylish apparel, accessories and décor at competitive prices and is an excellent strategic fit for Virginia Gateway as it enhances our fashion offerings and complements our current mix of retailers” said Taylor Chess, President of the Retail Division for Peterson Companies. “We’re excited to bring this national department store to the Gainesville community and further strengthen Virginia Gateway’s position as the dominant retail center in the region.”
Stein Mart Chief Executive Officer Jay Stein, grandson of the founder, looks to bring his company's retail concept to major markets around the country.
“We are so very pleased to be opening a new store in the thriving Virginia Gateway shopping center,” Stein said. “Adding new stores to key markets like metro Washington, D.C. is an important part of our growth strategy.”
Peterson Companies feels that the store will be a good fit with the existing 120 retail shops, restaurants and service-oriented tenants of the mixed-use center.
"Stein Mart is a great addition to Virginia Gateway...Stein Mart provides an excellent complement to the current mix of retailers," Peterson Companies Regional Marketing Director Joanna Caputi said.
Stein Mart is a national retailer with over 260 stores. The Virginia Gateway store will be Stein Mart’s third location in the Washington D.C. area.
