Boundary Change Necessary to Balance Enrollment at Nokesville High Schools

Posted
After an analysis of student enrollment trends, the Prince William County Schools Planning Office recommended an abbreviated boundary change to balance future enrollments at Patriot and Brentsville District high schools.
According to a press release issued by PWCS, the proposed boundary changes are modest, affecting only five students in the next school year who will attend Brentsville High School from Patriot High School. “The Avendale and Youth for Tomorrow communities are proposed for redistricting, as well as homes along Vint Hill Road, Route 28, and Bristow Road,” officials said. To address concerns of parents and residents, the Office of Facilities Services will host a community meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29 at Patriot High School. If approved by the School Board, the new boundaries would take effect in Sept. 2012. “Because an abbreviated boundary change will be used, no boundary planning committee is required,” the statement said. The School Board will also entertain public comment on the proposed boundary change at the June 13 School Board meeting at 7 p.m. School officials direct residents to the PWCS Facilities Web Site for information and maps for the proposed high school boundary change. Parents with questions or comments should contact Lionel White in the Office of Facilities Services at 703.791.7312.
