The one-week STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) camp for rising first through sixth graders, Camp Invention ® returns to Bristow Run Elementary Aug. 5 with a new global theme.

This year’s Geo-Quest emphasizes the practical sciences within a global social studies context. The exciting weeklong adventure immerses children in creative group activities that involve STEM and reinforce and supplement their school learning in those subjects.

However, it is not standard academia; rather, the children work through simulated scenarios, sharpening their critical thinking skills. They are further asked to invent, improvise and cooperate to solve problems using technology.

Much like the focus at Bristow Run Elementary, Camp Invention will take on a global theme this year, exploring modules such as “Cache Dash,” “I Can Invent: Launchitude” and “Amazing Atlas Games.”

In “Cache Dash” children navigate their way to treasure-troves and solve global challenges. In “I Can Invent: Launchitude,” campers take apart common appliances to reengineer them into awesome “Duck Chucking Devices!” “The Amazing Atlas Games” include high-energy games that incorporate science and world studies.

When parents register their children on or before March 28, 2013 they receive $25 OFF the base price of $220. Every registration includes a free Camp Invention t-shirt. Availability is limited, so visit or call 800.968.4332 to reserve your child’s spot today!

This program is not limited to Bristow Run Elementary children, and children from all over the area are invited to register! Children in grades seven through nine are invited to attend as counselors-in-training. Bristow Run parent Andrea Ragonese will serve as the camp’s director for the second year.

Camp Invention is a nationally-acclaimed program in partnership with Invent Now ®.
