Marsteller M.S. Installs New Secured Entrance

Posted

Marsteller Middle School Principal Roberta Knetter announced that the school has installed a new secured entrance system, which will require all visitors during school hours to “buzz in” beginning May 27.

Knetter said in a letter to the community that the system will enable staff to safely identify all visitors who request access to the building,

“In order to enter the building, all visitors must press the button on the monitor located to the right of the front doors. Once the button is pressed, our front office staff will be able to see a visual of the visitor requesting access to the building,” Knetter said. “At that time, a staff member will make audio contact with the visitor and the door release will be activated.”

Furthermore, visitors may be asked to identify their business within the school.

“Please remember that this is part of the precautionary measures when using the security system and not meant to offend anyone,” she said.

Procedures for signing in or dismissal for students will remain the same.

“We appreciate your patience as we familiarize ourselves with this new system,” she said.
