PWC Middle School Class Sizes Down by 1.9 students

schoolbusPrince William County Schools announced Monday that the average class size across all county middle schools is down by 1.9 students.

During the last budget cycle, the School Board prioritized reducing class sizes at the sixth grade level by one student in the core content areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies.

According to the Community Relations Office, the School Division funded the equivalent of one full-time teacher to each of the 16 middle schools.

“PWCS has made measurable progress when comparing this Sept. 30 with last year,” they said. “We have worked with our internal auditor to validate the data presented and will continue to do so as we go forward

PWCS has did not include additional staffing actions at Benton and Potomac Middle Schools in their class size calculations, but they said they expect to see measurable results in the future.
