PWC Schools Earn State Board of Ed. Awards

schoolbusPrince William County Schools announced 13 school earned the Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award and three the Board of Education Excellence Award. The Distinguished Achievement Award acknowledges a school's ability to meet all state and federal benchmarks and making progress toward the goals. "Honored schools exceed state and federal accountability standards and achieve excellence goals established by the governor and the Board of Education, based on achievement and performance during the 2013-14 school year," PWCS posted on their website. The Excellence Award further distinguishes schools for advanced achievement. Those schools who were honored include: VIP Board of Education Excellence Award: Pennington Traditional Porter Traditional Marshall Elementary School Mountain View Elementary School Old Bridge Elementary School
VIP Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award: Alvey Elementary School Antietam Elementary School Buckland Mills Elementary School Cedar Point Elementary School Glenkirk Elementary School Henderson Elementary School Signal Hill Elementary School T. Clay Wood Elementary School Victory Elementary School Westridge Elementary School Benton Middle School Gainesville Middle School Battlefield High School “We are proud of all of our schools for their efforts to boost student achievement,” Superintendent Steve Walts said. “It is especially gratifying that these 18 schools were deserving of special recognition.” Three more schools earned recognitions this year than last year.
