SURVEY: Should the School Division permanently add ten minutes be to the instructional day?

Posted
The Prince William County School Board will hear a presentation May 21 proposing that the ten additional minutes that were added to the instructional day, to make up for the 13 weather-related closings and six two-hour delays this winter, be made permanent. According to the calendar committee, whom Superintendent Steven L. Walts re-convened in April to investigate ways to accommodate the loss of instructional hours due to weather-related closings, the additional 10 minutes would add approximately 30 hours and bring the school day more in line with surrounding school divisions. The Virginia Board of Education mandates 990 instructional hours each school year.
