Holland in Haymarket – Burnside Farms – Festival of Spring

Holland comes to Haymarket – Northern Virginia farm hosts largest Pick-Your-Own Spring Flower event in North America. April 2015 kicks off the annual Festival of Spring at Burnside Farms in Haymarket, VA. Guests may stroll through the nearly six acres of spring flowers and pick their own blossoms. The festival arrives in late March/Early April when 150,000 daffodils in 30 varieties begin to bloom. The daffodils flower in all shades of yellow, orange, pink and white and many are fragrant. Early/Mid April, 300,000 tulips in more than 200 varieties begin to bloom. The tulips come in every color, size and shape imaginable. May ushers in 150,000 blooming Dutch Iris in 20 varieties of blue, purple, yellow and white. The farms fields are an amazing location for spring photos or a peaceful picnic lunch. Families, schools and groups are invited to visit the farm for their first outing of spring to enjoy a festival that’s fun for all ages.

In support of the Hylton Performing Arts Center’s mission, the Buchanan Partners Art Gallery educates and enriches the Northern Virginia community by providing diverse and visual arts experiences. The Gallery focuses on the work of artists who have lived or worked in the Prince William, Manassas and surrounding regions. Through community partnerships, the Buchanan Partners Art Gallery provides an exciting and stimulating arts experience that expands cultural awareness, and integrates the arts into the region’s social, economic, and community fabric.

 

The Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Thursday, it is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The gallery is also open two hours before each performance at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.

Famous Daves hosts Paint Nite @ Famous Daves

Famous Daves is now hosting Paint Nite every other wednesday at 7 p.m.! Paint Nite is a new concept that blends timeless pastimes…. artistic painting and drinking cocktails. 

If you would like to sit with friends, come early to reserve your seats.  Space can sometimes be a challenge while painting. If you are interested in eating dinner, please arrive an hour early to dine. Feel free to migrate once the event has started with your drinks and dessert. 

Please note that this painting party is only for adults 21 and older.

T. Clay Wood E.S. Kindergarten Registration Information @ T. Clay Wood Elementary School

T. Clay Wood E.S is having kindergarden registration information for the 2015-2016 school year on April 9 from 10 am to 5 pm and April 23 from 12 pm and 7 pm.

Specific Documentation is needed for Registration.

  •  Original Birth Certificate
  • Child must be 5 years old by September 30, 2015
  • Original Social Security Card
  • Proof of Residency- 3 items
  • Physical Examination, signed, stamped and dated by a physician and performed atleast 1 year prior (8/31/14 or after)  to school entrance.
  • Immunization Records
      • DTaP – A minimum of 4 doses with one given after fourth birthday
      • Polio – A minimum of 4 doses with one given after fourth birthday
      • MMRs – 2 Measles, 2 Mumps, 1 Rubella – one after 1st birthday and 2nd dose prior to entering kindergarten
      • HEPB – 3 doses given over a 6 month period (Dose 2:  4-8 weeks after dose 1.  Dose 3:  8 weeks after dose 2.  Total of 16 weeks between dose 1 & 3.)
      • Varicella (Chicken Pox Vaccine) – 2 doses after first birthday
      • *Physical forms are not needed at registration; however, they are required before the first day of school 8/31/15
