Prince William County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched Monday 6:15 p.m.to a 2-story single-family house fire in the 13100 block of Piedmont Vista Drive in Haymarket for a reported grill fire that spread to the back of house.
"Upon arrival, fire and rescue units found a rapidly spreading fire on the back side of the house extending into the attic," Battalion Chief Curtis Brodie said. "Fire and rescue units initiated suppression operations and were able to control the fire in approximately 20 minutes."
According to Brodie, smoke detectors were working and did sound.
Prince William County Police assisted with traffic control.
The official cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
