Police Charge Woman in Fatal Haymarket Crash

police-sirensThe driver of a van involved in a crash, which resulted in the death of a young woman, last week, has been charged with two driving-related misdemeanors.

Wednesday, investigators from the Prince William Crash Investigation Unit obtained warrants for the driver of the 2006 Chevrolet Express Van involved in the fatal crash in the area of Bent Grass Drive and Waverly Farm Drive in Haymarket, September 23.

"The accused, identified as Norma Guadron Canales, turned herself into police without incident at the Western District Station in Manassas later that afternoon," police spokesperson, Officer Nathan Probus said.

Canales, 41, of Culpeper, was charged with reckless driving and driving without a license.

Her court date has been set for October 15, 2016. She has been released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. The maximum penalty for the combined offenses is 18 months in jail.
