City of Manassas Police Investigate Gun Homicide

City of Manassas Police Officers are investigating a gun homicide that occurred Friday near Grant Avenue.

Nov. 25, at approximately 1 a.m, officers responded to a report of a shooting on Byrd Drive.

"Officers arrived and located a male suffering from several gunshot wounds," said Manassas City spokesperson, Patty Prince. "The victim was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. Currently, no arrests have been made."

The victim has been identified as Jose Tomas Velasquez, 44, of Manassas.

According to Prince, detectives are continuing to investigate. They will release more information when available.
