UPDATE: Vehicle Crash Kills Two in Gainesville; Victims identified

VICTIMS IDENTIFIED – Investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit have positively identified the victims of today’s earlier fatal crash as Daniel Sasha Velasco, 32, and Ronin William, 2, both of Gainesville.

Prince William Police have reported that a vehicle crash on Lee Highway has killed a Gainesville man and toddler, Monday morning.

Investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Lee Highway and Heathcote Boulevard in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a crash, Nov. 28 at 9:24 a.m.

"The investigation revealed that the driver of a 1999 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Lee Highway approaching Heathcote Boulevard when the vehicle struck the rear of a Kenworth delivery truck which was stopped at the intersection," police spokesperson, Sgt. Jonathan Perok said.

The driver of the Honda Accord and a child seated in the backseat of the vehicle were pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was not injured.

Both deceased occupants of the Honda were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The identities of the deceased will be released once their family has been notified. No charges are pending at this time. The investigation continues.
