BOCS Seeks Answers from Feds about Housing of Illegal Alien Children in County

Posted

After a 30-minute closed session, The Prince William Board of County Supervisors meeting began with a directive to the County Executive to question the Federal Government and especially the Department of Health and Human Services, regarding the housing of illegal alien children in the county.

For more information about the housing of illegal alien children read, "County Puts Distance Between Itself and Youth Illegal Immigrant Program."

The Supervisors agreed to direct the County Executive to pose the following questions to the DHHS:

How many children are being housed in Prince William County as part of the UAM program?

Where are they being housed in Prince William County?

What is the experience of DHHS with regard to the need for county services as for education services, public services, social services and medical care?

How long is it expected that these children will remain in Prince William County?

“We also like to direct the county attorney to determine whether this board, or anyone has any authority over this issue that the Federal Government contracted with private entities to house these children,” Stewart said. “Third, we’d like to direct the county execute to coordinate with our Federal delegation and appropriate state, local and Federal authorities as necessary.”

There were no objections, and Stewart continued, “that will be the Directive to the County Executive moving forward.”
