Transformer Explodes Causing Power Outages in Bristow

A transformer exploded on Linton Hall Road in Bristow sending sparks onto the roadway and causing power outages in surrounding communities at 3:50 p.m. Thursday.

According to Bristow Beat's Jason Shaw, who was driving on Linton Hall Road near Saybrooke, no one was injured by the explosion, but it did cause power outages affecting nearby homes and traffic signals.

"The pole was not struck by lightning," Shaw said.

While lights are on at Bristow Center, some traffic lights had flicked off only to regained power after a few minutes.

Multiple readers are reporting that lights are out in the Highland Village section of Braemar.

Meanwhile, NOVEC is reporting several power outages in Prince William County, including an area along Devlin Road south of University Boulevard near Jennell Drive and Placid Lake Court.

Dominon Power is reporting one outage in the Gainesville area along Route 29 near the Fauquier County line.
