Bristow Residents Appreciate 'Mystery Tree Trimmers'

Posted
Bristow has its own “suburban” legend. Residents of Devlin Road communities have enjoyed the efforts of a mystery tree trimmer(s) who according to eyewitness accounts has been decorating trees across Devlin Road from the Sheffield Manor communities on an undeveloped plot of land. The individual(s) has been active for several years, each year decorating more trees along the roadside. “My kids love; it. It used to be just one tree, and each year another is added. Makes us all remember the spirit of the holidays, now OUR job is to pay it forward,” Christina VanBalen Harrigan said. However, there are different accounts of how many people are involved. Some residents have witnessed a single female, while others report multiple individuals participating. “I saw about three people decorating the trees after Thanksgiving, but didn't recognize them. I think it was one female and two males,” Tom Jubb said.
While the individuals participating in the annual ritual remains a mystery, another resident revealed herself on Facebook as the source of some of the decorations. “The lights are mine... I added them after the decorations went up. Sadly, there are not enough. If whoever actually decorated the trees sees this (and collects their ornaments), please keep the lights for next year!” Marla Jean Bibbs said. Whoever the Mystery Tree Trimmers are, their efforts have become the source of seasonal joy for residents. “The last few years there has been one tree at the front of our neighborhood being decorated. This year the decorations went ‘viral’!! Thank you Sheffield friend! I love coming home to that view every night and seeing it every day!! That's the true spirit of the season!!” Laurie Eaton Kessler said.
