Bristow Residents Collaborate to Decorate Devlin Road Trees

Posted

What might have begun as a single individual's desire to spread holiday cheer in Bristow has become a collaborative effort.

In recent years, residents have banded together to ensure the tradition of decorating the trees on a vacant lot along Devlin Road continues each holiday season.

Residents identified "a female" and later "a male," who decorated the trees over the last two weeks. Two Victory Lakes residents, Gretchen and Greg Henry, decided to jump-start the festivities this year and decorate the first tree across from Sheffield Manor.

"The 'female' was me and my husband was kind enough to go back this week to place the late bow up top, where I couldn't reach," Henry said. "We live in Victory Lakes and have seen the trees decorated for the past few years and wanted to ensure the trend continued."

For this movement to continue to grow, residents are encouraged to participate and donate their own decorations.

"It's not about the "who," it's about the spirit; our job is to pay it forward, folks," Christina Harrigan said. "Random acts of kindness is what we need more of in our community. Start today!"

It remains to be seen how many will contribute to the effort this year; however, from the comments on social media, many appreciate the gesture.

"It brings us much joy seeing the spirit and I'm happy to know it brings others joy as well," Henry said.
