A building on Battle Street in the Historic Downtown area of the City of Manassas collapsed Feb. 14 at 9 p.m..

Despite a number of people frequenting the many restaurants located in the Old Town section of Manassas in celebration of Valentine's Day, Patty Prince, City of Manassas Public Affairs Specialist, said no one was injured as the building was unoccupied.

“Manasssas Fire Units responded, evacuating 14 people from apartments in adjacent buildings as a precaution,” Prince said.

High winds Saturday were likely partially to blame for the collapse.

Battle Street from the railroad tracks to Center Street is currently closed to traffic.
