Prince William Police investigated reports of a bullet that struck a residence in the 8900 block of Kingbird Court in Gainesville Oct. 19.
According to the homeowner, the damage is believed to have occurred sometime between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
"The homeowner reported to police that he returned home to find damage caused by a bullet that struck the residence," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "The bullet entered the home through a rear window and was located on the floor by the homeowner."
Police said there was no one was home at the time of the incident; no other damage was reported.
