Couple Arrested in Connection with Gainesville Bank Robbery

A search of a vehicle after a routine traffic stop by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office on Mar. 30 resulted in the arrest of a man and a women in connection with the robbery of the Bank of America branch in Gainesville.

Prince William County Police charged Kevin Wes Bolden, 46, and Moneek Grant, 34, with robbery and grand larceny. The police reported that the investigation revealed that the female accomplice, Bolden's girlfriend, was involved in the robbery as well.

The sheriff's office notified the Prince William County Police Department that during a search of the car in their jurisdiction, money reported stolen in the bank robbery as well as the demand note that was handed to a teller was found.

According to a statement released by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, "Deputy Rick Smutz was patrolling the Tye River school zone and observed a silver Volvo speeding. A traffic stop was made. The driver told Deputy Smutz they were going to Lynchburg and then gave several false identities. After further investigation, it was discovered the driver was wanted in Connecticut for 1 hotel robbery and 7 bank robberies."

Bolden is a career criminal with an extensive record, which includes assaults, robbery, burglary, possession of narcotics, and interfering/resisting arrest.

Police confirm that both individuals are being held at the Albemarle Regional Jail awaiting transport back to Prince William County.

Court date for both is set for June 19, 2012; both are held without bond.
