Following a brief standoff, Haymarket and Prince William Police charged Trevor Davidson of Haymarket with abduction, strangulation and domestic assault and battery.

Law enforcement units responded Aug. 23 at 2:15 a.m to a residence located in the 6000 block of Madison Street for reports of a domestic dispute.

"Prior to arriving at the scene, officers met with the victim at the Haymarket Sheetz and determined that she had been assaulted, strangled and held against her will by her cohabitating boyfriend, Trevor Davidson," Haymarket Police Chief Eric Noble said.

Units established a perimeter around the residence and attempted to make contact with Davidson.

"After multiple attempts proved unsuccessful, warrants were obtained from the Magistrates Office and officers from both agencies again responded during the late afternoon," Noble said. "Once units re-established the perimeter, a brief standoff occurred during which time Mr. Davidson audibly manipulated a firearm."

Officers contacted several family members who ultimately convinced Davidson to exit the residence and surrender to police.

"A .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol was recovered at the scene," he said.

Police took Davidson into custody, where he was transported to the Adult Detention Center and charged.
