Residents, who have been waiting for a new way to travel from Linton Hall to Vint Hill Road, might soon see some progress on the Rollins Ford Road extension project.

Director Thomas Blaser announced that the Department of Transportation will soon advertise for the construction of the extension.

At the  Apr. 17 Quarterly Department of Transportation Report to the Board of County Supervisors, Blaser reported that the $12 million project is going forward and will be developed in conjunction with the proposed Rollins Ford Park project.

"We're looking to advertise the Rollins Ford Road extension this spring/summer and continue to work with the Parks Authority in a joint grading project simultaneously with the road and Rollins Ford Park," he said.

According to the presentation, construction will include two phases and include improvements to Vint Hill Road.

At this time, the design for the four lane divided roadway has been submitted to Virginia Department of Transportation for approval.

According to County documents, construction is scheduled to begin in Sept. 2012 and be completed by the end of Aug. 2013.
