The Prince William County Department of Transportation announced that several high profile western county road projects will be completed ahead of schedule.

The highly anticipated Rollins Ford Road Project, which will extend Rollins Ford Road to Vint Hill Road, is way ahead of schedule with the projected opening moved to November 2013 from May 2014.

Originally scheduled to open Nov. 26, University Boulevard between Va. 234 and Hornbaker Road will open a month earlier.

The "Hornbaker Road-University Boulevard widening project includes widening and construction of University Boulevard from Route 234 Bypass to Sudley Manor Drive, along with improvements to Hornbaker Road," officials said.

Hornbaker Road, which was scheduled to open in late Nov.,  is now expected to open in late October.

According to officials, these road projects should ease traffic congestion in the west end of the county and are on track to be completed within their perspective budgets.
