DTI Holds Meeting to Discuss Bristow Pipeline

Posted

Dominion Transportation, Inc. (DTI) will host a pre-construction information meeting on Jan. 23 between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. at Marsteller Middle School to discuss the installation of an interstate gas pipeline in the Bristow area.

According to information posted on the Brentsville District website, the gas pipeline company, DTI, will be replacing approximately two miles of existing pipeline along Linton Hall and Sudley Manor Dr. to remain in compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission standards. While it is not a safety issue, Federal standards require thicker pipes to meet the needs of an increased population in the vicinity.

At the Wed. meeting, residents may arrive  any time during the two-hour session to ask questions or speak with DTI project team representatives.

The project, scheduled to take 6-7 months to complete, will include the installation of replacement pipeline parallel to the existing pipeline. Once the new pipeline is fully installed, the existing pipeline will be removed, except for the sections running beneath public roads, which will instead be grouted shut.

During construction, residents should expect open trenches and piles of topsoil. Safety fences and barricades will also be installed.

Once the new line is installed, grading and seeding will be completed, and the right-of-way will be restored to its original condition as best as possible. All above-ground markets and facilities will also be replaced.

Construction on the project will take place between the hours of 7 a.m. until dark on weekdays, 9 a.m. to dark on Saturday and as needed on Sundays.

According to a tentative timeline for the construction, tree trimmings and clearings will begin in March.  Construction will begin in April or May. Finally, construction and restoration should be completed by November.
