Fight in Gainesville Area Results in Stabbing, Hit & Run

Following an investigation of a fight, which occurred near the the 16300 block of John Marshall Highway Oct. 25, Prince William County Police arrested Warren Leon Corum, 35, of Haymarket on three counts of malicious wounding, two counts of hit and run and three counts of assault and battery.

According to police, a caller reported early Sunday morning to police that Corum and a 39-year-old acquaintance from Fairfax were involved in an argument, which had escalated.

"During the encounter, the accused stabbed the victim in the back," police spokesperson Officer Nathaniel Probus said. "When several friends attempted to separate the parties, the accused assaulted them then got into his vehicle and drove toward two of the friends, a 23-year-old man of Haymarket and a 33-year-old woman of Middleburg, striking them."

The victims suffered minor injuries.

Police said Corum fled the scene prior to the police arriving. Police continued to search for the accused throughout the morning and eventually caught up with him the next day.

Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit located and arrested Corum without incident.

The suspect's court date is Dec. 2, 2105 and he is held without bond.
