UPDATED: Nine Bristow Townhomes Damaged by Sunday Fire

A total of nine townhouses were damaged, with four sustaining structural damage, from the July 20 fire on Dawkins Crest Circle in Bristow, Department of Fire & Rescue Communications Specialist Kim Y. Hylander announced Monday.

"No injuries were reported," she said.

According to Hylander, fire and rescue units arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of a three-story middle of the row townhome that was spreading quickly to adjacent townhomes. The commander immediately requested a second alarm.

"Fifty firefighters were needed to attack and extinguished the massive fire, that damaged a total of nine townhomes which varied from melted siding to significant structural damage to four townhomes," she said. "These townhomes were declared and posted unsafe by the Building Department."

The incident is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.

An early morning fire in Bristow ripped through a townhouse and spread to others in the area of Dawkins Crest Circle Sunday morning.

According to scanner reports, the fire, which started after 3:15 a.m., spread to two other adjacent units and damaged a fourth on Lake Baldwin Drive.

Fire and Rescue crews contained the fire in 20 minutes after first responders arrived.

PWC Scanner Bums reported heavy structural damage to the original building.

The fire displaced 12 residents, who were assisted by the Red Cross.

Crews requested building inspectors and utility companies to the scene.
