Braemar Village Firestone Awaits Zoning Approval to Begin Construction

Despite some opposition, Firestone Complete Auto Care Centers seeks to begin construction on a 8,256 sq. ft. store at Braemar Village.

Firestone Complete Auto Care Centers’ plan to open in mid-Feb. might have been too optimistic.

The retailer cannot begin construction on the approximately one acre parcel until it receives zoning approval from the county, a company representative said.

Earlier this month, The Prince William County Planning Commission recommended approval for Firestone to build a 8,256 sq. ft. motor vehicle service facility on the northeast intersection of Sudley Manor Drive and Braemar Village Plaza.

“We chose Bristow due to the strong demographics and growing market,” the representative said.

The company-owned location will be one of two in Prince William County. With over 1600 locations nationwide, Firestone Complete Auto Centers is a leading retailer for passenger and light truck tires offering repairs, routine maintenance and diagnostic services.  The company also owns retail brands Tires Plus, Expert Tire and Wheel Works.

“We continue to look for viable locations throughout the United States including the northern Virginia area,” he said.

According to the permit, the Braemar Community Association submitted a Dec. 14, 2011 letter opposing the construction, citing potential congestion and parking issues, as well as incompatible aesthetic features with the rest of the area.

Firestone planned a mid-February opening for its second Prince William County location. This architectural rendering depicts the proposed façade of the store.
