Prince William County Police responded to La Vie Nails and Spa, located at 13926 Estate Manor Drive in Gainesville, for a larceny in progress 9:40 a.m. Sept. 5.
According to police, a black male in a green "military type jacket" walked in the business and asked to use the bathroom.
"The man walked to the rear of the store and went into the bathroom. When he exited the bathroom, he walked back towards the front of the store," police spokesman Nathan Probus said. "As he was walking by the front counter, he opened a cash box which was sitting on the counter and grabbed a handful of cash and then walked out."
Probus said the owner observed the larceny and yelled at the man to stop. When he didn't, he chased the suspect up Rollins Ford Road, until the suspect jumped the privacy fence behind an address on Comfort Drive.
"The suspect was last seen by the business owner going into the tree line behind an address on Restina Drive," he said.
