A Gainesville man interrupted a home invasion and got the suspect on video.

While trying to remove a screen from the rear door of a residence on the 6900 block of Stanwick Square in Gainesville, the suspect encountered the homeowner who recorded the attempted burglary on his cell phone.

According to the homeowner, he observed an unknown man attempting to enter his house March 18.

“The homeowner confronted the suspect who then fled on foot,” police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. “No injuries were reported and no entry was made into the residence.”

Police report that they used a K-9 in the search for the suspect; however, they are still looking for a 15-22-year-old black male, 5 feet 10 inches, 140 lbs, thin build, who was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a black jacket, a white shirt over his face, blue gloves and a backpack.
