Gainesville Man Charged in Attempted Stabbing

Prince William County Police charged Keith Renard Finley, 33, with malicious wounding April 10, after attempting to stab a 28-year-old man in his Old Carolina Road residence in Gainesville.

According to the 28-year-old victim, he and the accused, an acquaintance,  were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated.

"During the encounter, the accused grabbed a knife and attempted to stab the victim," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. "The victim fled from the accused to another room and was able to exit the residence through a window."

The victim contacted police once he was outside the residence.

"No injuries were reported," Perok said.

Police found Finley inside the house and arrested him without further incident.

Finley's court date is scheduled for may 12, 2014 and he is being held without bond.
