Gainesville Man Charged with Abduction, Brandishing Firearm

Prince William County Police charged Michael Charles Branson, 39, of Gainesville with abduction, domestic assault & battery, brandishing a firearm, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, in connection with a Feb. 3 incident involving a family member.

According to the victim, a 41-year-old woman of Manassas, they were involved in an argument,which escalated, at their home in the 7400 block of Pensacola Place Thursday afternoon.

"During the encounter, the accused brandished a firearm and forced the victim into a closet," police spokesman Officer Nathan Probus said. "At some point, the accused pushed the victim to the ground preventing her from leaving."

The victim managed to contacted police once they were separated.

"The accused left the residence but was located and detained without incident a short time later by responding officers," Probus said. "Following the investigation, the accused was arrested."

Branson's court date is pending and he is held without bond.
