To defuse rumors of another attempted abduction in the Gainesville area, Gainesville Middle School Principal Dr. Sally E. MacLean released a statement to parents Friday.
“While at a bus stop after school hours, a couple of our students showed very good judgment while outside during the thunderstorm,” MacLean said. “A person offered them a ride home and the students had the good sense to decline.”
The children reported the incident to the school, who alerted Prince William County Police.
“After a thorough investigation by the Police Department, it has been firmly established that the person was acting as a Good Samaritan by offering to get the students out of the storm,” she said.
