Gainesville Smashburger Employee Assaulted, Robbed in Parking Lot

policedoor700pxAn employee of Smashburger, located at the Promenade at Virginia Gateway in Gainesville, told police a man assaulted her and stole a money bag after 9 a.m. Monday morning.

"An employee was leaving the business and walking to her vehicle when she was approached by unknown man, who assaulted her then took a money bag contained an undisclosed amount of money," police spokesperson Officer Nathan Probus said.

According to police, the suspect got into a vehicle and fled the area.

A description of the individual and car are forthcoming.

Another robbery occurred 9:04 a.m. this morning at an Exxon station in the area Sudley Road near Balls Ford Road in Manassas; a masked man brandished a gun and stole money before fleeing on foot.

Officers described the suspect as a black male wearing black pants, black shirt and face mask; police employed a helicopter in the search for the suspect.

Officials have not announced any connection between the two incidents; however, they are investigating the possibility.
