The Gainesville woman sentenced in connection with the death of Prince William Police Officer Chris Yung was sentenced Monday.

Margaret Luecke, 70, received a sentence of probation and community service for charges of reckless driving. Additionally, she was fined $2,500 and had her driver license suspended for six months.

Luecke was driving a minivan when she pulled in front of Yung, who was on duty and riding his police motorcycle around Nokesville Road and Piper Lane in Manassas on the afternoon of Dec. 31, 2012. Consequently, Yung lost control of his vehicle, which crashed, and he died from crash-related injuries.

Yung was speeding at the time, but had his emergency lights flashing. Luecke testified that she did not notice the motorcycle until it was too late. The woman also testified that she was remorseful for her actions.

In response to Yung’s death, Prince William Police and citizens displayed an outpouring of support for the 35-year-old police officer and his family.
